Farmers now have the opportunity to reduce both drying and haulage costs.

Two Alvan Blanch driers have been installed at the export facility at Southampton Grain Terminal which has direct access to higher value export markets.

A unique collaborative venture between five Hampshire farming businesses and Frontier Agriculture, SMD LLP will enable you to deliver grain up to 19% to the point of consumption on a competitive scale of charges.

Grain dried where it is needed, reducing costs
Drying grain on farm is a costly and time consuming exercise with the main alternative currently being a diversion to a commercial drying facility and extra transport cost. The new facility at Southampton will remove the need for on farm drying and any extra haulage cost by taking your grain from farm to the point of consumption by the most cost effective route.

A joint venture
The five farming businesses, each farming substantial acreages, identified a need for further drying capacity in the south of England. With a constantly busy export campaign from Frontier’s export facility at Southampton, they have formed a joint venture with Frontier to install two high capacity driers on the docks.
Frontier provides access to export markets in the EU, North Africa and beyond, where UK grain is in demand.

Higher value markets
With the advent of a bioethanol industry in the north of England, it is likely that exports will become even more important to the south of England. This new drying capacity will allow farmers and Frontier to access higher value markets for wheat which require lower moisture content deliveries. Increasing the base value of UK exports will benefit the whole of the south.
